Every year Southern Water receives hundreds of requests for donations and sponsorship from a wide range of organisations, community groups and individuals across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
As much as we would like to, we are unable to offer financial support to everyone who makes a request.
The company has a policy of awarding grants to projects which mirror the aims of the business, with an emphasis on the environment, education and community.
Education
Southern Water supports initiatives which encourage and foster an understanding of the water cycle, the abstraction, treatment and distribution of water and how wastewater is recycled back into the environment.
We are also keen to promote water efficiency messages in homes and schools.
Environment
The company provides small grants to schools and community groups who are looking to add value to their environment through projects or schemes, such as creating water efficient gardens, sensory gardens, wildlife habitats or ponds.
Community Chest
Southern Water has appointed a team of employees who meet on the last Friday of each month to award small grants from the company’s ‘Community Chest’.
The team considers requests from a broad range of projects and organisations and each is considered on its own merits. Awards and donations are made up to a maximum of £300.
Recent examples include
£200 towards a community radio station
£200 towards a water-themed concert
£100 towards the creation of a green space at a drop-in centre for the homeless
£200 towards funding volunteers for a reading scheme
