Communities in the South East are reaping the environmental rewards of state-of-the-art water and wastewater treatment, cleaner seas, improved river water quality and flood alleviation.
Southern Water invested £2 billion in its operations and works between 1995 and 2005 and is now undertaking a further £1.8 billion of improvements across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight between 2005 and 2010.
During 2006/7 the company invested £523 million on service improvements for customers, more than in any previous year in Southern Water's history.
More than 100 schemes have already been completed to improve customer service, upgrade tap water quality, safeguarded water resources and improve the quality of wastewater recycled to the sea and rivers.
