
The work was undertaken by Southern Water’s contractors 4Delivery Ltd (4D) with the assistance of their specialist contractors Visser & Smit Hanab (UK) Ltd and Halcrow Group Ltd.
As experts in the field of marine work, Visser & Smit Hanab are carrying out the construction and Halcrow have provided the engineering design.
4D is a consortium of industry leaders United Utilities, Costain and MWH, which is carrying out a £700 million programme of environmental improvement work on behalf of Southern Water across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent and Sussex between 2005 and 2010.
Visser & Smit Hanab is a specialised cable and pipeline installation contractor operating both onshore and at sea.
UK-based firm Halcrow specialises in the provision of planning, design and management services for infrastructure development worldwide.
This scheme was signed up to the Considerate Constructors Scheme which is an independent body ensuring that 4D and Visser & Smit Hanab carried out all the work with positive consideration to the needs of the general public, traders and businesses, site personnel and visitors.
