Cross Solent Main Replacement Environmental Statement

The company is planning to replace the 4km water mains, which run under the sea from Lepe in the New Forest to Gurnard on the Isle of Wight, with new pipes to ensure demand for water on the Island can continue to be met over the next 25 years.

These plans are accompanied by a full environmental statement, which assesses the likely environmental effects of the project and outlines how environmental issues have been taken into account in developing the scheme.

The full Environmental Statement is an extensive document which may take some time to download, but is available to view below in Adobe PDF format.

Addendum to the Environmental Statement:

A further planning application to the Isle of Wight Council (ref: P/02113/05) has now been submitted to allow greater flexibility in terms of construction options for the Cross Solent scheme. This new application covers consent to undertake all the works on the Isle of Wight from an alternative drill rig site from the field to the north of Cliff Farm and Spring Croft.

In support of this further application, the original Environmental Statement (ES) has been re-submitted with an Addendum dealing with the likely effects of constructing the works on the alternative drill rig site.
