Emergency work on the popular Cuckoo Trail is approaching its final stages.

We closed the Old Loom Mill section of the Cuckoo Trail at Polegate, East Sussex, in November 2010 so our contractor Clancy Docwra could carry out vital work to replace a 1.5km section of sewer which has suffered a number of bursts.

The Cuckoo Trail was later re-opened in time for the summer school holidays on July 22.

Work on one of its final sections of the scheme is now planned for part of the Trail north of Summerhill Lane, crossing Ersham Road (B2104).

The Cuckoo Trail will remain open and an alternative path, suitably sign posted, will be made available to Trail users while this work is being carried out.

The work on this stretch of the scheme is expected to start in late November and complete by March 2012.
