Southern Water is a participant in the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, a government initiative which encourages industry in the UK to cut emissions and reduce energy consumption. 

More than 4,000 companies are part of the scheme. These organisations are responsible for around 10 per cent of the UK's carbon emissions.

We reported our 2010/11 carbon footprint emissions to the scheme in July. The Environment Agency will publish a league table of participating companies in October.
