Using water wisely - a water meter, a school's water efficient garden and pupils with Mr Drink-It and Mr Save-It

Over the next 25 years we propose a twintrack approach to reduce the demand for water while developing new resources to cope with an expected overall increase in water use due to housing development in the region.

Installing water meters is an important part of our plan to manage demand for water and we plan to meter 92 per cent of homes by 2015.

People on a water meter tend to use less 10 per cent less water than those without. Saving water can also mean saving energy and saving money.

We also promote water efficiency through our education programme, summer roadshows, supporting events such as South and South East in Bloom and through our water mascots Mr Save It and Mr Drink It.
