Transfer and disclosure of information

The information you provide to us will only be used for the purpose, or purposes, identified to you at the time it is provided. Unless identified in this statement, or specifically at the point of collection, we will not disclose any personal information. However, employees of Southern Water, or specialist-contracted data processors, may be required to process your information under the control of Southern Water. Disclosure of personal information will otherwise only be where we have a duty to do so or if the law specifically allows it.

For billing purposes, we may exchange information with the company that supplies your drinking water or is responsible for removing your waste water, where this is not Southern Water, in order that our and their records are as up to date as possible.

Where might your information be transferred?
We may use your information, or provide it to contracted suppliers who work on our behalf, both within the UK and abroad.

We will only transfer personal information outside the European Economic Area where our notification to the Information Commissioner and/or the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998, specifically allows it. If such transfer occurs, we will put in place appropriate measures to safeguard the data.
