Customer Services Supervisor
Georgina Toy successfully combines her part-time role as a supervisor at Southern Water with bringing up her two children.
She joined the company in 2000 as a Customer Services assistant, answering bill enquiries in the Customer Service Centre.
Since then she has gained an NVQ in Customer Services and undertaken several in-house courses to be promoted to a senior Customer Services advisor.
Georgina, 26, switched to part-time working when her three-year-old daughter Lucy was born.
After standing in for supervisors on a regular basis, she has now been promoted to a Customer Services supervisor, overseeing a team of 30 staff answering written enquiries.
She job shares two-and-a-half days a week with a colleague.
Georgina is also a keen supporter of the company’s water efficiency promotions and takes part in road shows and regional promotions.
She said: “Southern Water’s flexibility has allowed me to combine work and being a parent and continue in my training and career progression.
“It’s definitely a child-friendly company.”
