Achiever Awards

Each year we are proud to recognise the courage and determination of children who have learned to swim against the odds or performed exceptionally.

Each of our pools and clubs are invited to nominate a child who has overcome a difficulty in learning to swim, whether it is a fear of water or a disability.

We hold two Achiever Awards events (one in Kent and one in Hampshire) to celebrate these children’s efforts and recognise the dedication and commitment of their parents and instructors.

The 2018 Achievers Events were held at Medway Park, Gillingham and The Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth.

Congratulations to all our 2018 Achievers who received their medals from our Learn to Swim ambassadors Olympic Gold medallist Duncan Goodhew MBE and Invictus Games champion Mike Goody.

What they say about our Achiever Awards

I don’t think this event can be improved! It is so lovely to see all of the children get deserving medals from the champions! We have never felt prouder of Tilly!

Sarah Nicholls - mother of Tilly Nicholls, swimmer at Oaklands Community Pool, Southampton

I want to thank Southern Water for an excellent event. I have been teaching for nearly 12 years and nominated children in the past, however, this was the first year I have actually had time to attend the event. It put a huge smile on my face, and Thomas was over the moon. It really was a superb day!
