Any person(s) attending a tour must have their email confirmation or confirmation number with them on the day. If the confirmation number is not supplied on the day of the tour then entry to the tour may be denied.
We accept the following credit/debit cards for payment:
Once a sewer tour ticket has been purchased the fee is non-refundable and the ticket non-transferable unless the tour is cancelled by Southern Water due to bad weather or as a result of some other unforeseen circumstance.
The tour may also be cancelled if we do not receive fifteen or more bookings on to a tour. Southern Water reserves the right to cancel any tour for operational reasons without notice.
In the event of a tour being cancelled we will contact you using the details you have supplied in line with our privacy statement. The unpredictability of the weather may mean that we are unable to contact you until you have arrived for the start of the tour.
If a tour is cancelled, we will contact you to arrange to transfer your booking to another date or offer a refund.
Tickets are priced at £12 for adults. Concession rates are available for children (11-16 yrs old) at £6.
Meeting point for the tour
The meeting point for the start of the tour is underneath the Palace Pier. It can be found by going down the stairs on the right-hand side of the pier. The meeting point is near the bottom of these stairs. This is also the finishing point for the tour.
The minimum age for visitors is 11. We do not recommend the elderly or infirm to join a tour because the sewers are slippery and have a number of steps and ladders to climb.
The sewers are deep, poorly lit and slippery. Walking through them and climbing a 15ft vertical exit ladder both require reasonable agility.
Sewers are confined spaces and the atmosphere can be unpleasant for some and cause breathing problems for those who suffer from asthma, bronchial illness or angina.
The sewers could also induce claustrophobic distress for some visitors. If you have any doubts about your fitness to participate in a tour, please consult your GP.
It is recommended that person(s) entering the sewers dress for comfort, i.e. trousers or jeans with a long-sleeved top. The wearing of shorts or skirts is not recommended. Open shoes or high heels are not allowed. Protective gloves and safety helmets must be worn at all times.
Southern Water reserves the right to refuse entry to person(s) who are not dressed appropriately. Health and safety is our priority and we reserve the right to decline entry to anyone we consider unfit to take a tour.
