Coachmans Drive, Broadfield, Crawley

Southern Water are working with Clancy Docwra to carry out essential water main replacement works in Crawley.

The old water pipes in Tollgate Hill, Coachmans Drive and Woodmans Hill have suffered a number of bursts in recent years and have reached the end of their operational life.

We are investing £700,000 in the local area by replacing 2 kilometres of old main with a new, highly durable pipe to safeguard water supplies for the community effectively into the future. 

Latest update May 2018

We've now reached the Tollgate Hill and Coachmans Drive roundabout. While we're working on this section there will be four-way lights in place. This section should be completed by end of May 2018. We're monitoring traffic flow closely, and working hard to minimise impact on motorists and road users.

What does the work entail?

Work began in late February on Tollgate Hill at the junction with Hollingbourne Crescent and will progress north, continuing across the roundabout and along Coachmans Drive, before then returning back down Woodmans Hill.

This work is expected to be fully complete by December 2018. 

We’ll be working in short sections to minimise local disruption as much we’re able, with temporary lights controlling traffic past the work. These temporary traffic lights will be manually operated during morning and evening peak hours to aid the flow of traffic.

If during the scheme we need to interrupt people's water supplies for a short time, for example to connect a property onto the new water main, we will give them at least 48 hours’ notice.
