Southern Water will be building a 1km sewer to connect a new housing development, off Winchester Road, just north west of Fair Oak, to its wastewater network.
Work started on March 13, 2017 and will continue for about 30 weeks. The sewer will go along Sandy Lane, Hardings Lane and cross Fair Oak Road.
We started in Sandy Lane, approximately 250m north of the junction with Fair Oak Road. We’ll continue in sections working toward Hardings Lane.
Roads will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place, which will be manually-operated during peak times.
To minimise disruption, we’re aiming to use specialist tunnelling technology where possible, which means we won’t need to dig trenches.
Update October 11
We'll be closing Harding Lane, between Roseland Close and Stoke Heights, on the following dates:
• Sat October 14 to Mon October 16
• Sat October 21 to Mon October 23
This is to complete a sewer connection and reinstate the traffic calming point on Hardings Lane.
We will be working on both Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. Both Sundays are for the concrete to cure, there’ll be no other activities. The closures will be lifted on the Monday mornings.
