Southern Water will be building a 1km sewer to connect a new housing development, off Winchester Road, just north west of Fair Oak, to its wastewater network.
Work started on March 13, 2017 and will continue for about 30 weeks. The sewer will go along Sandy Lane, Hardings Lane and cross Fair Oak Road.
We started in Sandy Lane, approximately 250m north of the junction with Fair Oak Road. We’ll continue in sections working toward Hardings Lane.
Roads will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place, which will be manually-operated during peak times.
To minimise disruption, we’re aiming to use specialist tunnelling technology where possible, which means we won’t need to dig trenches.
Update February 12, 2018
Our work in Sandy Lane was completed towards the end of January.
We're currently completing reinstatement works on private land south of the Fair Oak Road.
We're planning to complete all of our work and demobilise by the end of February.
We thank you for your patience as we reach the final stages of our work and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
