Southern Water will be building a 1km sewer to connect a new housing development, off Winchester Road, just north west of Fair Oak, to its wastewater network.
Work will start on the week of March 13 and will continue for about 30 weeks. The sewer will go along Sandy Lane, Hardings Lane and cross Fair Oak Road.
We’ll start in Sandy Lane, approximately 250m north of the junction with Fair Oak Road. We’ll continue in sections working toward Hardings Lane.
Roads will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place, which will be manually-operated during peak times.
To minimise disruption, we’re aiming to use specialist tunnelling technology where possible, which means we won’t need to dig trenches.
Southern Water Project Manager Mike Yung-hok said: “This is an essential scheme to ensure a new development can connect to our sewer network. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience and we’ll do all we can to keep impact to a minimum.”
