Future projects

After 2015, the majority of our customers will have a water meter and pay charges based on the amount of water they use.

We want to continue to support homes, schools and businesses to save water, energy and money with water efficiency initiatives in the future.

In our Water Resources Management Plan for 2015-2040 and our Business Plan for 2015-2020, we make commitments to reduce the average water use per person in our region by 10 per cent by 2020.

This will save 15 litres per person per day and reduce the average daily water use to 133 litres per person per day.

We aim to help our customers make these savings by providing more information and advice

We will also carry out targeted water-saving projects in homes, schools and businesses in Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

These projects include measuring water use, installing water-saving devices, such as efficient showerheads, and education campaigns to encourage people to use water wisely.

We will work in partnership with organisations, such as local authorities, to target projects where they will be most effective and support customers struggling to pay their bills.

Small savings across our two million customers can add up to significant amounts and help protect the environment as we can reduce the amount of water we need to abstract from rivers and groundwater for supply.
