Press releases for July 2017

Southern Water will be building a new sewer to replace ageing pipework along Iden Road for six weeks from July 31.

We’re making improvements to our outfall near Canada Road, Deal.

Following a discussion with East Sussex County Council about our project to install a new water main in St Leonards-on-Sea, we will be backfilling and reinstating the majority of open excavations by the end of this week and will re-apply to complete our works at a later stage – the date of which will be dependant on approval by the Highway authority.

We’re sorry to everyone impacted by this scheme.

We’re pleased to say the burst main which affected customers in the Chandlers Ford, Otterbourne and Chilworth areas has now been fixed.

Following this morning’s burst 15” main in Silkstead Lane, Hursley, which is affecting customers in the Chandlers Ford, Otterbourne and Chilworth areas, we have isolated the burst pipe and are currently working to fix it.

We first became aware of a burst affecting properties in the Chandlers Ford, Otterbourne and Chilworth areas at around 1am this morning (Friday 14 July). Our team have identified the location of the burst and are working to fix the issue as quickly as possible.

The Environment Agency have today removed bathing water warning notices which advise against swimming, in the Worthing and Lancing area, and so the local authority will be removing the signs from the beaches.

As a result of a power outage at our treatment works in East Worthing last night, we had to release excess stormwater and wastewater via the site's long-sea outfall pipe, which runs more than 3km out to sea.

We have emergency action plans in place in Worthing following a total power outage to our East Worthing Pumping station overnight on Tuesday 11 July.

We are pleased to confirm water was restored to all customers in North Lancing by around 7pm last night, following a loss of water to around 170 customers yesterday (Monday).

Conservation work in Ramsgate is getting a boost thanks to a £500 donation from Southern Water and its contractors MGJV to mark the end of a major sewer pipe replacement.

We will be carrying out emergency overnight works in Police Station Road, West Malling, Kent, from Monday 10 July, after concrete was poured into the sewer by a third party.
