Come and see us at Worthing's Christmas market
04/12/2015

There’s one present that Southern Water staff dread – the solidified fat, oil and grease (FOG) from millions of Christmas dinners.

When poured down the sink cooked fats from turkeys and other meats can cause blockages in our sewers leading to flooding of homes, gardens and businesses.

The Southern Water campaign team will be in Worthing town centre at Montague Place on Friday 11 December to give out fat funnels and other information to help keep our sewers clear this Christmas – and throughout the year.

Southern Water’s Community Campaigns and Engagement Manager Beverley Thompson said: “Even vegetable oils can cause blockages. We’re asking customers to dispose of their FOG correctly by simply waiting for it to cool, pouring it into a container and placing it in the bin.

“We wish all our customers a very Happy Christmas and a flood free New Year!”

Visitors to the Southern Water stall will have the chance to win a luxury family hamper by simply completing a short survey.
