Work to upgrade the wastewater treatment works at Portswood is underway, and Southern Water is keen to support local causes.
Southern Water Project Manager, James Rance, said: "We've extended the previous deadline of 31 October to encourage more groups to apply.
"We're always keen to support local causes where we can while we're working in a particular area.
"But don't hang around - if you meet our criteria, please get your applications in soon."
To apply for a grant of up to £2,000, community groups and initiatives should be involved in promoting one or more of three key areas: healthy lifestyles, the environment, or education and opportunities.
An independent judging panel will decide where grants are allocated to and will include members of the project team, Southern Water's delivery partner Galliford Try which is carrying out the upgrade works and local community representatives. The panel's decision is final.
Applications must be made online and the closing date is 30 November 2017. Just visit the website: www.southernwater.co.uk/community-grants
