Sea Scouts canvassed support from Southern Water, to help pay for new tents.
The members of 1st Southbourne Sea Scouts applied to the water company’s Community Chest grants programme for funding for new camping equipment.
Community Chest supports charities and good causes with donations towards projects.
The Scout troop has 120 members aged between six and 18 and organises regular camping trips alongside its weekly watersports activities in and around Chichester Harbour which include sailing, kayaking and powerboating.
Scout Leader Dave Wingham said: “Some of our old tents are very worn and under constant repair so we are very grateful to Southern Water for its support. This contribution will greatly assist us in buying new quality canvas tents and to continue to promote camping to our members.”
Kevin Buck, who co-ordinates Southern Water’s Community Chest scheme, said: “We are pleased to be able to help the Scouts keep warm and dry while camping and hope the new tents they buy will bring them many years of enjoyment in the future.”
