Southern Water is reminding customers to check the identity of people calling at their homes after reports of a bogus caller operating in Worthing.
Sussex Police is appealing for information after a man claiming to be from the company stole cash from a woman in Carnegie Close, Worthing, on January 14.
Southern Water takes the issue of bogus callers very seriously and reminds people to be AWARE of the risk at all times:
Attach your door chain before opening the door to strangers
Water company staff always carry identification
A company uniform and vehicle logos are points to watch for
