Southern Water were contacted at around 11pm on Sunday (3 January 2016) by the Fire Rescue Service following reports of a potential fuel spill in the Botley Road area of Horton Heath.
We deployed a team of engineers and investigation technicians to the area and worked alongside Hampshire County Council to determine the source of the spill.
Following our investigations we can confirm the diesel spill is linked to a petrol station in the area.
Some of the diesel entered a drain that is not owned by Southern Water and some entered our sewers - which have now been flushed and vented.
We have spoken with people living at the properties near the spill site and are pleased to confirm all customers are back at their properties.
Southern Water have worked closely alongside the County Council and Fire and Rescue Service to investigate and help resolve this issue as a matter of urgency.
We would like to thank the public for their patience.
