We are working to replace 1.2km of water mains in Littlehampton to reduce the risk of bursts and ensure we can continue to provide a constant supply of high quality drinking water to our customers.
The new pipe is being laid from Norway Lane to Worthing Road approximately 100m west of the rounadabout at Summerlea Community Primary School. The route crosses the A259 and heads east along the B2187 Worthing Road where it will be located mainly in the verge.
The majority of the work has now been completed. However there is a section of approximately 160m left to install close to Summerlea Community Primary School. We will wait until the summer holidays in 2017 to carry out this final piece of work.
Update 26 July
We are starting work on Monday 31 July to replace the remaining 170 metres of old water pipe which runs along the B2187 Worthing Road.
The work has been timed to take place during the school holidays to minimise the impact on Worthing Road and Summerlea Community Primary school.
Work will begin at the junction with Hollyhock Way, and will progress east; finishing at the roundabout junction with North Lane and Windsor Drive.
Work is expected to be completed by mid August.
A temporary lane closure of the eastbound lane will be in operation past our work; however access for residents along this section of Worthing Road will be maintained at all times.
We will need to temporarily shut off the water supply to local properties when we are ready to connect them to the new main. We’ll be notifying everyone who will be affected a minimum of 48 hours before any interruptions.
