Metering programme closure

If we've been unable to install a meter at your property it means you are currently charged at the rateable value as set by the District Valuer of the Inland Revenue. From 1 April 2017 this will change, and we will apply a new assessed metered charge, which is based on the number of bedrooms at your property.

What does this mean for you?

This change to an assessed metered charge may increase the amount you currently pay.

The new assessed metered charge will be based on the number of bedroom(s) at your property.

If the number of bedrooms you have is different to the number we used to calculate your assessed charge, we need to change this. You can let us know by completing the following form:

And send it to:

Southern Water
PO Box 4056
Worthing
BN13 3WP

Alternatively, call us on 0330 303 0277 or email payless@southernwater.co.uk.

We will send you a bill in March for charges from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.

How we can help

We want to help you manage this increase in payments so we will apply it gradually over the next two years.

While we were unable to fit a meter outside your home, we can offer you a survey to see if it is possible to fit the meter inside your home.

This is usually fitted near your internal stop tap (usually under the kitchen sink). To arrange a survey, give us a call on 0800 027 0363, 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am to 1pm, or email us at payless@southernwater.co.uk.

Having a meter enables you to pay for the water you use – no more no less. It gives you the opportunity to reduce the amount you pay by making changes in your water use.
