Donating to support the work of the South Downs National Park
The South Downs National Park Trust, the official charity of the South Downs National Park, is a small organisation with big ambitions. Our £10,000 donation will go towards the restoration of a network of ponds, one of the charity’s big projects, to improve water quality for the benefit of wildlife and endangered species such as great-crested newts.
Using wetlands as a low carbon, nature-based solution to cleaning wastewater
It’s great to work on this unique and innovative project, but it’s a real challenge too. Cleaning wastewater is difficult and expensive, so when I was given the opportunity to work on one of the first projects of its kind in England using wetlands to refine the treatment of wastewater, I was enthusiastic about getting started.

Welcome to Water for Life Hampshire
Our world is changing – the twin pressures of more extreme weather events and a growing population are stretching our finite natural resources, including water. This challenge is felt strongly in the water-stressed South East, particularly in Hampshire following new rules over how much water we can take from the county’s two main rivers – the Test and Itchen.
Balancing supply and demand while protecting river habitats
“Water for Life – Hampshire is part of our response to the twin pressures of climate change and a growing population. The programme will protect the sensitive Test and Itchen chalk streams and the wildlife that live there – creating a resilient and sustainable supply of water for our customers while protecting the natural world long into the future.” Sam Underwood, Senior Stakeholder Manager, Water for Life – Hampshire.
Making amends to our customers
