South East Water

We share over 500,000 customers with South East Water in parts of Hampshire, Kent and Sussex.

The following information is designed to help customers who receive water supply charges from South East Water and wastewater charges from us.

South East Water supplies your water services and Southern Water your wastewater services.

This used to mean separate bills, but many of you told us how confusing it was to receive two water bills from different companies.

So we listened to your feedback, and worked with South East Water to launch One Bill  a single bill from South East Water that includes Southern Water’s charges too.

Your tap water still comes from South East Water and your wastewater is still collected and treated by Southern Water  your charges are just on One Bill, so you only need to contact one company if you have a question, want to make a payment or tell us that you’re moving home.

Visit the South East Water website or call them on 0333 000 0001.

Your water company will provide us with the meter details and we'll base our charges on the readings provided.

We can't meter the water that returns to the sewer for treatment because not all the water you use returns to the sewer. We've assessed the typical percentage return as 92.5 per cent and so we bill based on a 'standard return to sewer' of this amount.

This means that for every 100 cubic metres supplied, we will bill for 92.5 cubic metres.

Please contact South East Water.

If there are any problems with the meter that require a change to your bill, we'll be notified automatically.

Each independent water company has its own method of calculating assessed measured charges and therefore our wastewater charges reflect those differences.

If you think you're eligible for the single occupier charge please contact South East Water, who'll inform us.
