Southern Water is asking customers to meet them in Whitstable this month to discuss local issues and investment plans with teams and leaders from across the company.

Colleagues from teams across the company, including directors, will be on hand to answer customers’ questions and cover topics such as saving water and protecting our environment.

Visitors to Whitstable Umbrella Centre, on Monday 29 January from 11am to 7pm, can also receive updates on the company’s activities in the Whitstable area, including:

  • Innovative new green solutions to reduce storm overflows
  • The £25 million investment in upgrades to Swalecliffe Wastewater Treatment Works, and the replacement of its storm overflow pipe
  • Financial support for customers struggling with bill payments
  • Work to prevent blockages, pollutions and flooding locally
  • Investigations into private pipes illegally connected into our network
  • Ongoing plans to restore Swalecliffe Brook
  • Community and schools programme
  • Our proposed £7.8bn Business Plan for 2025-30, which could create up to 5,000 jobs and double support to those in need.

Chief Customer Officer Katy Taylor said:

“Our aim is to keep our customers informed and up to date with our activities in the area. We know there is room for improvement, and we are absolutely committed to meeting our customers’ expectations.

“We are here to listen and be transparent – we want to understand our customers’ concerns and take action to tackle them.

“We are really stepping up our efforts in the local area, and are keen to work closer with our stakeholders, especially those at Kent County Council and Canterbury City Council. We cannot achieve the change we need alone, and are excited to work with partners to deliver the change our customers’ want and deserve.”
