How are monthly Direct Debits are calculated?

Your water bill is increasing and we understand this may be worrying. We're here to help explain why your bill is going up, where the money will be spent and how we can support you if you're concerned about paying your bill.

background

How Monthly Direct Debits Work for Your Water Bill

Paying your water bill by monthly Direct Debit is a simple and convenient way to stay on top of your payments. It spreads the cost of your annual water usage evenly over the year, so you avoid higher bills in some months and lower ones in others.

Your Direct Debit amount is based on an estimate of your total yearly water usage, divided into 12 equal payments. We also take into account any outstanding balance on your account. If you’re in debit, we’ll recover it gradually as part of your monthly payments.

We regularly review your account to check your usage and balance. If your water use goes up or down, or if anything else changes, we may adjust your payment amount to keep it accurate.
