Latest News: Notification of upcoming works - Portsmouth
We would like to warn road users in advance that an emergency road closure may be in place on the southbound Eastern Road, Portsmouth from the junction with the A27 to the junction with Anchorage Road, from 8.30pm on Monday 26 June until 5.30am on Thursday 29 June.
We would like to stress this road closure may not go ahead but we have arranged it just in case, following overnight works last week to fix a sewer pipe. Although we believe the issue is fixed, we will be carrying out a programme of monitoring over the weekend and if it is discovered any further work is needed we will begin the works on Monday 26 June at 8.30pm.
If this further work is needed fully signed diversions will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians. Drivers are asked to plan journeys in advance and use alternate routes wherever possible.
We've considered a number of options to minimise the impact to drivers and have been working closely alongside Portsmouth City Council to carry out the exploratory work and repair work and we would like to thank drivers and residents for their patience while we have been carrying out this vital work to protect a number of environmentally sensitive areas nearby.
We for any disruption this essential work may cause and thank people for their patience while we carry out these vital repairs.
Further information: Updates will be available via our website and social media channels, as well as local media.
