The Unflushables

Southern Water has joined forces with the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) to get animated in its efforts to end the scourge of our sewers: fat, oil, grease and unflushable items such as wipes, tampons, condoms and nappies.

Over 23,000 blockages occur every year on our 39,600km sewer network, which results in misery and distress for the thousands of customers who suffer internal sewage flooding as a result.

But the most shocking thing is that over two-thirds of these blockages could be prevented by correctly disposing of fat and unflushable items in the bin, instead of down the toilet or sink.

So we’ve decided to launch a new campaign to help our customers fight The Unflushables!

Our new film draws on real examples from our case files to help illustrate the heartbreak people suffer when their homes are flooded with sewage.

And all the characters in the film are voiced by real Southern Water employees who work closely with the issues of fat, oil, grease and unflushables, either helping people to avoid internal floods, or dealing with the aftermath if the worst happens.

So whether you’re in tune with Tim ‘The Toilet’ or enamoured with Josie ‘The Armchair’, we hope you’re encouraged to keep fighting The Unflushables!
