Southern Water is to meet its customers on the Island in Ryde and Newport in March – sharing how we are tackling storm overflows with innovative nature based solutions.

Managers and experts from the company will be there to explain how Southern Water is tackling the challenges of securing future water supplies and protecting the environment.

Hear our plans to:

  • Slash storm overflows by 2030
  • Ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality water for the future
  • Reinforce the water supply network
  • Supporting customers’ bills during the cost of living crisis

Katy Taylor, Chief Customer Officer, will host the sessions. “The island is a special place,  we want to hear from customers about what they need from us and have the opportunity to talk about our plans. The Island relies heavily on tourism for its economy and our customers want to know how we keep bathing waters and rivers clean. All the beaches on the island are rated ‘Excellent’ by Defra. But we know that residents want us to slash the number of storm releases of rain and wastewater made to protect homes from flooding – this will be a chance to share our exciting plans.”

Katy said she expected environmental work to be a key concern. “The Island relies heavily on tourism for its economy and our customers want to know how we keep bathing waters and rivers clean. All the beaches on the island are rated ‘Excellent’ by Defra but residents want to see us slash the number of storm releases of rain and wastewater made to protect homes from flooding – and we have really exciting plans around that.”
