Whitstable customer event brings community together
Scores of customers from Whitstable and surrounding Kent communities came together at a special drop-in event to find what our teams are doing in their local area.
The Umbrella Community Centre, in Oxford Street, hosted our latest ‘Your Water Matters’ gathering
Visitors were able to talk to experts from across the business on Thursday 22 January 2026.
Among those taking questions were members of our Clean Rivers and Seas Task Force, who work to cut storm overflows, and the Customer Service team, who were able to talk about any concerns raised about household accounts.
Meanwhile, our community and education team spoke about their outreach work in Whitstable and beyond, our blockage busters showcased their work to prevent pollutions, and colleagues from South East Water were available to take questions on the water network they manage in the area.
After attending the event, John Penicud, Managing Director of Wastewater, said:
“It was great to visit Whitstable again and I was delighted to see almost 150 people join us and ask questions about the things that matter most to them. I’d like to thank everyone for coming down and engaging with us.
“The community were able to find out about the huge amount of work we’re doing locally to reduce storm overflow releases, as well as other improvements and investment across Whitstable to improve our sewer network and treatment works.
“Residents were also able to speak to our Customer Team about any queries they have, and our colleagues from South East Water were also on hand to answer questions about the fresh water supply.”
