Find out how to save water, energy and money and learn a bit about your water supply
We deliver one of the lowest level of leakage per property of all water and sewerage companies in the UK and face the the toughest leakage target in the industry.
We think if we ask our customers not to waste water it is important we demonstrate that we value it as well.
As the temperature drops in winter, the ground begins to freeze and crack. This movement in the earth is a major factor in causing underground pipes to burst.
However, our team of leakbusters works round the clock to find and repair leaks on our 13,753km of water mains, delivering one of the lowest levels of leakage per property of all water and wastewater companies. View our film above to follow a day in the life of our leak detection team.
We replaced 28 kilometres of ageing water mains during 2013–14 to reduce the risk of burst pipes and leaks. This was part of our programme to replace 256 kilometres of water mains between 2010 and 2015.
We are installing water meters with leak alarms in most homes in our supply areas by 2015, saving millions of litres of water every day.
Each year community-minded customers make thousands of calls to us, to report leaks and help stop supplies being wasted.
