Help paying your bill

If you're struggling to pay your water bill, you may be entitled to help from one of our payment schemes.

We understand that your circumstances can change – sometimes unexpectedly.

We're here to help if you're struggling to pay your bill.

Find more details about our different payment support schemes and tariffs by expanding the sections below.

You may be eligible for a discount on your bill if:

  • your household income is low
  • someone in your household receives a means-tested benefit
  • you have three or more children under 19 in your house
  • someone in your house requires more water due to a medical condition
  • you haven't made a payment for a while.

WaterSure – caps your bills if you have a water meter

You may be eligible for a reduction in charges if you have a low income and you have a water meter at your property.

The reduced charges for the WaterSure scheme are £391 (£159 for water only and £232 for wastewater only) from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021.

If your fresh water is supplied by another water company, please contact them directly for assistance.

We can help by putting a limit on your charges for water and wastewater services, as long as you meet the following conditions:

  • Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Income related Employment & Support Allowance (ESA).

And either:

You (or someone in your household) are responsible for three or more children under 19 in full time education who live with you.

Or you, your child or the person receiving the benefit or tax credit have a specified medical condition requiring the use of more water than normal. The specified medical conditions are:
