It's been the driest spring in over 100 years. The hot weather and lack of rain is putting serious pressure on water sources across the region and our ability to treat and supply your water, which is why we're asking customers to use water wisely.

We're doing everything we can to protect your water supply this summer. We’re delivering the biggest infrastructure programme in our history with mega projects including the UK’s first new reservoir in 40 years and the UK’s first water recycling plant.
We’re finding and fixing leaks faster than ever and reduced leakage by 20% last year, saving millions of litres of water. And we are planning to reduce leakage by a similar amount this year.
And we’re not stopping there. Our plans include everything from innovative smart technology and drones to working with dogs who are specially trained to detect leaks in rural areas.
But we can’t do it alone. We need to work together to make sure there’s enough water for everyone to enjoy this summer.

Make One Change
Saving water outside
There are lots of ways to reduce your water use outside. Swap your hose for a watering can and save up to 1,000 litres of water an hour. Fitting a water butt to collect and reuse rainwater could save more than 800 litres of water a year.
Saving water in your home
Making small changes to your daily routine, such as turning the tap off when you brush your teeth, having a shorter shower, or only running the washing machine when you have a full load can make a big difference.

If you’re a business and want to reduce your water use, we’re here to help. You can apply for funding to bring a water saving idea to life or we can arrange a visit from one of our expert engineers to identify leaks and ways to save water.
Water Saving Home Visits
If you use a lot of water, why not see if you’re eligible for a free water saving visit. We’ll arrange for one of our engineers to visit you to install water saving products, saving money on your bill.
