£4.5 million investment at Kent wastewater sites

We are investing £4.5 million to improve water quality at three of our Wastewater Treatment Works across Kent.

We are installing new equipment at three wastewater works, Pembury, Cranbrook and Fordcombe, to remove more phosphorous during the treatment process.

This will improve the quality of the treated water going back into the environment and make sure we meet new environmental standards.

Works starts on 16 June and is scheduled to be complete by the Spring 2026.

Annabel Dewey, Project Manager for Southern Water, said:

“Modernising infrastructure at Pembury will help improve our environmental performance and improve water quality for the future. We’re pleased to see the start of this project and are keen to continue investing in our treatment works across the Southeast.”

Collectively the three Wastewater Treatment Sites serve around 700 properties. The sites and investment breakdown are at Pembury (£2.5), Cranbrook (£1m) and Fordcombe (£1m).
