Drop in Event at Umbrella Community Centre, Whitstable, Kent

Southern Water teams from around the business are set to meet local Whitstable residents and customers face-to-face, at a drop in event on Thursday 22 January.

Southern Water teams from around the business are set to meet local Whitstable residents and customers face-to-face, at a drop in event on Thursday 22 January.

Doors will open at 2.30pm and close at 6.30pm, at the Umbrella Community Centre, St Mary's Parish Hall, Oxford St, Whitstable, Kent. Southern Water teams including directors, will be on hand to answer questions on topics such as storm overflows and protecting the environment.

John Penicud, Director of Wastewater at Southern Water, who will be attending the drop-in event said:

“We will be able to meet our customers face to face and update residents with our activities in the area. We will listen to people’s concerns and let them know what action we intend to take.

“We are keen to explain how we are stepping up our efforts in the local area, and outline that we are working closely with our local stakeholders, especially those at Kent County Council. Our ambition is to achieve positive change and we are excited to work with partners to deliver this for our customers.”

We’ll have teams from across the business to talk about:

• How we’re spending money in your area to improve the resilience of our network now, and into the future.

• Our colleagues from South East Water will be on hand to answer questions about your water supply and tell you about the help available if you’re finding it hard to pay your bills.

• The nature-based solutions we’re introducing to reduce the number of storm releases.

• What’s being done to prevent blockages, pollutions and flooding in your area.

• Investigations into illegal connections that have caused pollutions, and how we’re working with partners to fix them.

• Our extensive community and schools' education programme.
