Incident update - Southwick Beach, West Sussex

We have experienced a technical fault at Shoreham Wastewater Treatment works, leading to a spill on the morning of Saturday 24 May off Southwick Beach.
 
While the spill was stopped by midday and the technical issue was resolved, our team modelled the impact of the spill on surrounding beaches and informed the local authority and the Environment Agency. We have also inspected surrounding beaches which have not shown any visible impact, and we will continue to do so tonight and tomorrow.
