Fixing leaks at Worthing Leisure Centre and Splashpoint Leisure Centre

South Downs Leisure provide leisure and hospitality facilities in Adur and Worthing in the West Sussex area. They work in partnership with over 80 local clubs, charities, schools and wellbeing providers.

Following the successful application by South Downs Leisure, water saving audits took place at Worthing Leisure Centre and Splashpoint Leisure Centre.

In partnership with Groundworks, our water-saving experts found and fixed ten leaks in Worthing Leisure Centre saving about 2,705 litres of water every day. They also fitted a number of water-saving devices, such as tap inserts to reduce the flow of water, saving an extra 2,897 litres of water per day. The total daily saving is over 5,000 litres of water.

At Splashpoint Leisure Centre, nine leaky loos were put right saving an estimated 4,500 litres of water a day. After installing five flush savers in toilets, an additional 548 litres of water are now being saved on a daily basis.

Mark Byerley, Operations Director South Downs Leisure said:

Sustainability is a key strategic objective for South Downs Leisure (SDL) and water consumption is a vital part of this strategy. The audits were very thorough and the team carrying these out from Southern Water had great knowledge and experience.
