We're investing £276 million in your community

We’ve listened to our customers about the improvements you want to see in the area you live. In West Sussex, we’re committed to reducing storm overflow releases to improve the quality of local bathing waters. As communities grow, we’re making your water supply more reliable by expanding our network and protecting the local sources it comes from.

Improving river health

We’re committed to protecting over 1,000 km of rivers across our region. At our Clapham site, we're working to reduce storm overflow releases and improve the quality of the water returned to the environment at our Clapham site.

Maintaining high-quality water

To continue to supply you with high-quality water, we’re upgrading Burpham Water Supply Works and expanding our nitrate removal schemes at Mossy Bottom, Patching, Madehurst and Stanhope Lodge.

Working with local farmers

We’re generating valuable biosolids for local farmers and cutting storm overflow releases with an £85 million upgrade of our Ford Wastewater Treatment Works. Our investment will improve the treatment of sludge and improve flow monitoring.

Tackling water shortages

To provide a sustainable source of up to 15 million litres more water a day, we’re developing a new water recycling scheme and pipeline transfer near Littlehampton. We’re also preventing future water outages by upgrading our water supply reservoirs at Hampers Lane and Turners Hill.

Protecting ecosystems

To conserve local ecosystems, we’re investing over £3 billion by 2030. Part of this will include multi-million-pound conservation projects in the Arun Valley and the River Western Rother area.

Protecting shellfish

We’re protecting local shellfish by improving the quality of water leaving Thornham Wastewater Treatment Works by investing £15 million in better UV treatment. We’re also improving bathing water quality around Chichester Harbour by reducing storm overflow releases at Thornham and nearby Pagham.

Improving your supply

To reduce supply interruptions and increase the amount of water we can treat, we’re spending £54 million to upgrade our Hardham Water Supply Works.

Supporting a growing population

To keep up with a growing population and demand, we’re spending £113 million upgrading sites like Goddards Green, Scaynes Hill, and Horsham. This will increase their capacity and generate nutrient-rich biosolids for local farmers.
