Mannings Heath improvements

We’re investing in a new pumping station and pipeline so that sewage from Mannings Heath wastewater works, near Golding Lane, can be treated at the Horsham Treatment Works instead.

background

08th November Update

We have now installed 95% of the new rising main, please see below for reference.

Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain we have recently had, we have decided to stand down the site, until the ground conditions in the fields improve. We will monitor the situation and let you know when we intend to commence works again.

ADVANCE NOTICE - Improving the sewer network in Horsham

There will be an archaeological watching brief present during our works. We’re investing in a new pumping station and pipeline so that sewage from Mannings Heath wastewater works, near Golding Lane, can be treated at the Horsham Treatment Works instead. The new pipeline will link into the Horsham sewer network at Chesworth Lane.

This will improve the quality of the water we put back into the environment because Horsham Treatment Works can treat it to a much higher standard, as we are carrying out a multi-million upgrade there.

The project involves a 3.8km pipe laid through fields, with construction works starting summer 2023 and finishing December 2024.

What work will we be carrying out?

Chesworth Lane will be closed from the junction of Chesworth Crescent to the entrance of Chesworth Farm from 2 October 2023 for about 4 weeks.

How will the work affect me?

Road Closure:

  • We’ll have to close Chesworth Lane between the junction of Chesworth Crescent and Chesworth Farm while we carry out the works.
  • There will be a diversion in place. You’ll find a copy of the diversion route at the bottom of this letter.
  • You’ll always be able to access your properties if you live inside the closure, but you may need to follow the diversion route depending where on the road we are working.
  • We’re sorry but there will be no parking at the entrance to Chesworth Farm.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

We’ll keep noise to a minimum:

  • You’ll see us on site from 7.30am but we won’t start any noisy work until 8am. We’ll always aim to finish by 5pm.
  • You may hear some noise from the construction work, but it won’t be all day every day.

Where can you find out more information on the work?

We would like to thank you for your support and patience whilst we undertake this essential work.

We are starting the works at the Chesworth Farm entrance today Monday 9th October 2023.

The parking bays outside the entrance and bridge will be suspended until we have installed the new rising main pass that section.

We will keep you updated for when the road closure will be fully installed on Chesworth Lane, as at the moment the division signs are out but the road will not be fully closed until needed to keep access for the residents open for as long as possible.

As we have started the highways notice a week later the proposed end date is now 3rd November 2023.
