background

We're committed to finding and fixing leaks

During routine leak checks, our engineers often spot potential leaks on pipework owned by customers. It is the property owner's responsibility to maintain these pipes and fix any leaks under the Water Industry Act 1991. These leaks are often hidden and so customers may not find them until they get a higher-than-expected bill.

If an engineer finds a potential leak on your property, you will receive a letter through the door asking to arrange a leak assessment. We encourage you to book this as soon as possible so that we can confirm whether a leak is present and support you to resolve it.

If you have received a leak letter, call PN Daly Ltd on 0800 043 0368. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm.

Frequently asked questions

We need to arrange for an engineer to visit your property. They’ll carry out an investigation to confirm if you have a leak on your private supply pipe, and if you do, they’ll let you know what you need to do next. You can find out more on our how to find and fix leaks page.

Important to know - although we look after the water mains that carry water to your street, your home is linked to our network by a private supply pipe. Under the Water Industry Act 1991, you or your landlord are legally responsible for maintaining this pipe and fixing any leaks.

If you've had a leak that has been repaired, we may be able to give you a leak allowance. This means you will receive a reduction on a future bill to account for the difference in water usage after you have repaired the leak. You will need to schedule the leak assessment to confirm the presence of a leak before we can advise you further.
