Installing rainwater storage

After receiving £691 through our Business Partnership Fund, Elm Grove Primary School in Brighton installed rainwater storage to support their large-scale planters.

The project was designed to reduce mains water use and manage surface water run-off by capturing rainfall and slowing its flow using slow-release water towers. The stored water will be used to maintain planters across the school site and support water play activities for children.

This water-saving initiative helps reduce reliance on the school’s water mains supply, protecting the environment while lowering running costs. These savings can then be reinvested into the school — bringing direct benefits to the children.

Phil Dancer, Premises Manager said:
"that the containers have been very useful in in the fact that I’m able to water the plants on a daily basis without using the mains supply. The children in the Eco Club also help me every Friday and enjoy the watering of the plants and containers, whilst understanding that this is helping the community by saving water."
