Water-efficient washroom refurbishment

The community hub at Lancing Parish Hall is a much-loved space that offers a wide range of valuable services to the local community, including lip-reading classes, school holiday clubs, exercise sessions, and support groups for parents of children with special needs. The hub also has a volunteer-run café, open three mornings a week, providing a welcoming space for residents to get together.

Lancing Parish Council successfully applied to the second round of our Business Partnership Fund. They received £2876.18 towards their plans to upgrade their washroom, making it more water efficient. To do this, they installed cistern displacement devices for 10 toilets, 9 sensor-controlled taps and a sensor-controlled urinal.

These improvements reduce the hall’s reliance on mains water, saving a huge amount of water every day and lowering internal operating costs.

Celia Price, Parish Clerk said:
"We’re extremely grateful for the support from the Business Partnership Fund. This funding has allowed us to upgrade our washroom facilities, making them more sustainable and cost-effective. The improvements are already helping us reduce water usage and operating costs, enabling us to focus more resources on the vital services we offer to the local community."

Kayleigh Sharman, Southern Water, Water Efficiency Manager said:
"Water is one of our most precious resources. The Southern Water Business Partnership Fund is an innovative scheme aiming to promote water efficiency in our region and find new ways to save water. It has been a pleasure to support Lancing Parish Hall in delivering newly refurbished, water-efficient toilet facilities that will offer long-term benefits to the local community."
