Our draft WRMP 2024 consultation
It's really important we hear from our customers and stakeholders. We want to know what you think of our ambitious leakage targets, our water savings ideas, and our large and small options to increase supply. It will help us shape our final WRMP24.
Once the consultation ends, we will publish a Statement of Response to address all the issues raised during consultation and amend our plan if necessary. We will then submit our final WRMP24 to the Secretary of State for Defra for approval and publish it once approved.
We consulted on draft WRMP24 between November 2022 and February 2023. Since the draft WRMP24 consultation, dates for completing some key schemes have been revised. These are as follows:
- The Havant Thicket Reservoir in Hampshire will now be completed in 2031 instead of 2029.
- The Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project (HWTWRP) will be completed in 2034 instead of 2030.
- The Sandown water recycling project on the Isle of Wight will be completed in 2030 instead of 2027.
- The Littlehampton water recycling project in Sussex will be completed in 2030 instead of 2027.
In order to mitigate the impact of these delays and ensure that we are able to maintain sufficient supplies under drought conditions, we have made a number of changes in our revised draft WRMP24. These include:
- Promoting greater savings in water used in homes and businesses.
- Delivering two groundwater schemes in Hampshire and one groundwater scheme in Sussex by 2030.
- Increasing the bulk import from SES Water into Sussex.
- Importing water from Norway via sea tankers to provide additional resilience between 2031 and 2034 (when the
- Hampshire Water Transfer Project is completed).
